The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima on Wednesday, arrived Kogi State, leading a presidential delegation to condole with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, following the passing of his father, Alhaji Momohsani MomohSani Ododo.
Our correspondent reports that the VP and his entourage were received by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu at the Obajana Airstrip.
Several high-ranking officials were present to receive the Vice President, including Hon. David Idris Zacharias, Shehu Seidu Amodu, Dr. Folashade Arike AyoAde, Dr. Isaiah Evinemi, Hilary Ojoma Egwudah, Rtd. Cmdr. Jerry Omadara, Hajia Oyiza Omade, Rt. Hon. Momoh Alfa Rabiu, Onuh Edoka, and Muhammed Nasiru Alfa.
Heads of Security Agencies and other senior government officials also attended the reception were also in attendance to receive the vice president and his entourage.
Political analysts note that the Vice President’s visit highlights the significance of the late Alhaji Ahmed MomohSani Ododo’s legacy and the esteem in which he was held by both the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the people of Kogi State.
The condolence visit is also a gesture of solidarity with Governor Ododo and his family during this difficult time.
As at the time of this report at about 10.38 a.m ,the VP, Deputy Governor and their entourage were on their way from Obajana to Upogoro,the home town of Governor, for the condolence visit.
Our correspondent reports that the Vice President arrived Okene at the house of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at about 12: 30 p.m with his entourage which includes Bueno state governor, Prof.Zulum,for the condolence visit.
