A night of nostalgia, celebration, and excellence awaits as members of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association, Kogi State Branch gear up for their much-anticipated Gala Night and Award Ceremony, scheduled to hold on August 23, 2025, in Lokoja, the state capital.

The announcement was sealed with enthusiasm during the association’s monthly meeting on Thursday in Lokoja ,where members unanimously agreed on the date, calling it “non-negotiable and sacrosanct.”

Briefing members on the state of preparations, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Comrade Ibrahim Bako, revealed that 15 distinguished alumni have been shortlisted for recognition for their exceptional contributions to the development of Kogi State and the association at large.

According to Bako, all subcommittees, including those on food, entertainment, publicity, awards, and finance, security have completed their assignments and submitted reports, which have been reviewed and endorsed by the CPC.

In his response, the state Chairman of the association, Engr. Mohammed Sagir, showered praises on the CPC chairman for a “commendable job,” lauding the committee’s diligence and coordination.

He said he and his exo members have gone to the palace of the Ohimege-Igu of Kotonkatfe,His Royal Highness,Dr. Saidu Akawu, who will be the Royal Father of the day at the event,to,to brief him of the date.

However, Engr. Sagir did not mince words about the economic realities in the country.

He called for a cost-conscious approach, urging that the budget be trimmed without compromising the glamour and purpose of the occasion,an appeal that received unanimous backing from members.

He further called on members to join hands and make the event not just successful but memorable.

With the wheels now fully in motion, anticipation is building for what promises to be an evening of reflections, reunions, recognitions, and resounding ABU pride.
