In a major boost for rural economic development and agro-logistics, the Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Kogi RAAMP) has signed contracts worth ₦4,029,738,565.53 for the upgrade of key rural markets across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The contract signing ceremony, held at the Kogi RAAMP office in Lokoja, marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the project’s agro-logistics component, which is designed to improve market access for rural farmers and traders.

Speaking at the event, the State Project Coordinator, Engr. Sheidu Obansa Adamu, emphasized the government’s commitment to quality assurance and accountability.

He noted that the administration of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, known for its rural-focused policies, maintains a zero-tolerance stance on substandard work. He urged the contractors to strictly follow procurement guidelines and complete the projects on schedule.

Engr. Obansa stressed that developing rural market infrastructure is central to RAAMP’s mandate, as it directly enhances agricultural productivity, food security, and rural livelihoods.

He added that the projects were evenly distributed across the senatorial districts to ensure fairness and inclusivity.

“The even distribution of these market projects across the three senatorial districts demonstrates RAAMP’s commitment to inclusive development. We expect nothing short of quality and timely execution,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, a representative of RSA Global Investments JV AB Enterprises expressed gratitude to the state government and Kogi RAAMP for the opportunity and pledged to deliver the projects according to the agreed technical standards.

“We understand the significance of this project to the rural economy and are committed to delivering value,” he said.

The contracts, awarded after a competitive evaluation process, include:Upgrade of Aiyegunle Market, Kabba-Bunu LGA – RSA Global Investments JV AB Enterprises,Upgrade of Ajaka Market, Igala-Mela/Odolu LGA – Afdin Construction Limited and Development of Aku Market, Adavi LGA – Geodata Global Services

The event also featured the formal signing of contract documents, witnessed by excited members of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), symbolizing a renewed commitment to advancing Kogi State’s rural economy through structured market infrastructure.
