By Musa Tanimu Nasidi in Lokoja.

The Lokoja Consultative Forum has issued a strong public disclaimer against one Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda Shelika, describing him as an impostor unlawfully parading himself as the traditional ruler of Lokoja, the Etsu Lokoja.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Forum’s Director of Media and Publicity, Musa Tanimu Nasidi in Lokoja and a copy available to The Reporters on Saturday.

The organization warned members of the public, within and outside Kogi State,to be wary of the false claims by the said individual, who, according to them, has no ancestral or legal ties to the Lokoja traditional institution.

The forum clarified that Emmanuel Shelika Dauda is neither recognized by the Lokoja Traditional Council nor by the Lokoja Local Government, adding that only Kogi State Government is the constitutionally authorized body empowered to appoint and approve traditional rulers within the state.

“The public should note that Mr. Shelika is an impostor and a felon who has been evading arrest since being declared wanted by the appropriate authorities.

“He lacks any form of customary or statutory legitimacy to claim the revered title of Etsu Lokoja or act in any traditional capacity on behalf of Lokoja and its people,”the statement read.

The forum expressed concern over attempts by the impostor to mislead the media and the general public and cautioned them not to fall prey to misinformation that could lend legitimacy to his false claims.

The Forum emphasized that Emmanuel Shelika Dauda is not an indigene of Lokoja Local Government Area, a prerequisite for occupying the Etsu Lokoja stool.

“We commend the Kogi State Government for its ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served and urge law enforcement agencies to expedite the arrest and prosecution of this impostor,” the statement continued.

The Lokoja Consultative Forum also warned individuals, organizations, and businesses against engaging in any form of financial or material transactions with Emmanuel Shelika Dauda, stating such dealings are done at their own risk.

“This measure is necessary to protect the integrity of the Lokoja traditional institution and prevent further embarrassment to the people of Lokoja and its environs,” Nasidi said.
