The Kogi State branch of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association has inaugurated a 10-member planning committee to organize a grand reunion and awards night slated for the end of July 2025.

The committee, chaired by the branch Vice Chairman, Hon. Garba Bako, was formally inaugurated during the monthly meeting of the association on Thursday at the NBA Secretariat in Lokoja.

The Chairman of the Kogi branch, Engr. Mohammed Sagir, said members were selected based on their integrity and commitment to the association’s vision.

“We trust in your ability to deliver on this important assignment. Do not betray the confidence reposed in you,” Sagir charged the committee.

Other committee members include Ustaz Uthman Umar Ogbo (Secretary), Hajiya Saretu Lami Lawal, Hajiya Ramatu Baba, Hajiya Amina Ali, Alhaji Abdulazeez Onubaiye, Mr. Otaru Felix, Alhaji Ibrahim Kenchi, Dr. Aminu Isah, and Malam Abdullahi Suleiman B.

Their terms of reference of the committee include selecting a date, time, and suitable venue for the event; overseeing venue decoration; designing and distributing invitations; creating publicity strategies; fundraising among members.

Others are budgeting for the event; identifying award recipients; and performing other duties necessary for a successful outing.

The committee is expected to submit its final report by June 15, 2025.

In his remarks, the committee chairman, Hon. Bako, thanked the branch for the opportunity and pledged that the committee would work diligently to deliver a memorable event.

A highlight of the meeting was a brief health talk by member Suleiman Balarabe, who demonstrated simple wellness exercises including hand clapping and leg raises.

He noted that such exercises could help individuals manage high blood sugar levels and improve general health.

The meeting resolved to reconvene on June 15, 2025 while the commitee is expected to submit its report earlier on June 12,2025.
