Tragedy has struck in the quiet community of Alo, Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, as two lovers were discovered dead, naked and lifeless inside a locked room under strange circumstances.
Sources said that the two deceased:identified as Sheriff Salifu and Blessing Adama, were on Friday, found in what police described as a case of “sudden and unnatural death.”
Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident, saying that the command has launched a full investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding their deaths.
According to him, the grim discovery was made after one Salisu Ibrahim, a resident of Alo, reported to the station around 12 p.m. that his tenant, Sheriff, had not emerged from his room as he normally would by 9:30 a.m.
Ibrahim added that alarmed by the silence, Sheriff’s brother reportedly gained access to the room through the ceiling, only to stumble upon a horrific sight of his brother and a woman, later identified as Blessing Adama of Ojogobi Road, Ankpa, lying dead and unclothed on the floor.
He said officers from the Ankpa Police Division were immediately dispatched to the scene, adding that the bodies were photographed and evacuated to the Zonal Hospital in Ankpa, where medical personnel confirmed both victims dead on arrival.
“The corpses were also taken for the postmortem examination to determine the actual cause of death,” SP Aya said.
However, the Sheriff’s family was said to have opted out of the autopsy and requested the body for burial, which was granted and the deceased was buried according to Islamic rites, leaving Blessing Adama’s at the mortuary, pending further investigations.
