The Police Command Kogi State has confirmed an attack by gunmen on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP–Kogi Central) in the Obeiba community, Okehi Local Government Area of kogi state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state,CP. Miller Dantawaye, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Thursday.

According to the Commissioner, the incident occurred on Tuesday night, adding that the police have commenced investigating into the matter.

“The command has been fully briefed on the unfortunate and criminal incident by the Divisional Police Officer in Okehi LGA. So far, no arrests have been made,” Dantawaye said.

He assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We will get to the root of the matter and deal decisively with those criminal elements behind the attack,” he added.

The Reporters recalls that In the early hours of Tuesday, unknown gunmen attacked and vandalized the family home of embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Sources in the community revealed that the armed men, acting on the assumption that the senator was present, targeted her grandfather’s residence, damaging several windows during the assault.

The attack was swiftly repelled by security operatives and vigilant community members, preventing further damage or casualties, sources further revealed.

Reacting to the incident, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan issued a statement on Thursday condemning the attack, describing the development as a calculated attempt to intimidate her.

“Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect locations for projects I attracted to my senatorial district.

The unknown gunmen assumed I was in town and attacked my family house that night.

“Thankfully, the civil defence team and community members responded promptly and chased them off. A report was filed at the police area command. No one was hurt,”she said.
