Police Command In Kogi Flags Off Police Week with Fitness Exercise

The Police Command in kogi state has officially flagged off the 2025 Police Week with a fitness exercise aimed at promoting health, endurance, and teamwork among officers.

SP. William Ovie Aya,the Command’s spokesperson in a statement he signed and copied The Reporters in Lokoja said that the event, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, who spearheaded a jogging session through major routes in Lokoja.

He added that the exercise witnessed enthusiastic participation from police officers drawn from various divisions across the state, alongside senior members of the Command’s Management Team.

” As they jogged through strategic areas of the city, the officers displayed unity and discipline, reinforcing their commitment to service and operational readiness,” Aya said.

Speaking after the session, CP Dantawaye underscored the significance of regular physical fitness for law enforcement officers, emphasizing that a well-conditioned police force is better equipped to handle security challenges effectively.

“The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has continually stressed the importance of excellence in policing.

“Part of that excellence lies in ensuring that our officers remain in top physical and mental shape. This exercise is not just about fitness; it is about preparedness, resilience, and dedication to duty,” CP Dantawaye stated.

He urged officers to make physical exercise a regular practice, highlighting how endurance and good health play a crucial role in effective policing.

The CP said that as part of the week-long celebration, the Police Command has lined up several activities, including community engagement programs, security and ethics lectures, awards for outstanding officers, and initiatives aimed at strengthening police-community relations.

According to him,the event will culminate in a grand celebration recognizing the dedication and sacrifices of officers in maintaining law and order.

The CP extended an invitation to members of the public and key stakeholders to participate in the celebrations, reaffirming the collective commitment to safety, security, and effective policing in Kogi State.
