Ogori-Magongo Women Disown Alleged Recall Plot Against Senator Natasha

By Barth Ikiebe, Abuja

Women from Ogori-Magongo have strongly rejected attempts to link them to the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing it as a ploy to tarnish their community’s reputation.

In a statement, members of Ogori-Magongo Women Initiative disassociated themselves from a woman allegedly leading the recall efforts, emphasizing that their community values integrity and truth above financial inducements.

“The women of Ogori-Magongo are known for their integrity and commitment to truth, prioritizing these values above monetary gains. However, an individual falsely claiming to represent us is spearheading the recall process against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, dragging our hard-earned reputation through the mud,” the group stated.

They questioned the motives and true identity of the woman involved, particularly given that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is the first female senator from Kogi State and has performed remarkably well.

“We, the women of Ogori-Magongo, strongly support Senator Natasha. We understand the challenges of raising a girl child to such a position in our society. She is a role model for our daughters, breaking barriers and reshaping perceptions about women’s leadership,” they affirmed.

The women also condemned any attempts to use security forces to intimidate those opposing the recall effort. They specifically urged the Chairperson of Ogori-Magongo Local Government, Hon. Rosemary, to refrain from deploying security personnel to suppress dissenting voices.

“Our community is known for peace, truth, and integrity. We will not compromise these values for personal or political gains,” they warned.
