The Secretary General of ABU Alumni Association World Wide, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud spotted snapping the president of the association while other members feed their sights with amazing sites on top of the mountain.

In a recent visit that captivated the spirit of Lokoja, the President of the ABU Alumni Association,Worldwide, Alhaji Adamu Mamnan Kontagora, embarked on a memorable two-day tour of the vibrant city in Kogi State, north central Nigeria. The executive members of the alumni association in the state welcomed the president with an immersive journey through some of the region’s most iconic tourist attractions.
Our correspondent, who is also the Publicity Secretary,ABU Alumni Association, kogi state branch,on the tour reports that one of the president’s standout moments was a visit to Mount Patti, a breathtaking peak standing 1,500 feet above sea level.
The panoramic views from the mountaintop offered a glimpse of Lokoja’s natural beauty, making it a must-see destination for any nature lover or history enthusiast.
Atop the mountain, Alhaji Kontagora explored several historical landmarks, including the iconic statues of Lord Lugard, the first Governor-General of Nigeria, and his wife, Flora Shaw.
A fascinating tidbit of history shared during the tour was that Flora Shaw is credited with naming the country “Nigeria,” a name that would eventually define a nation and its people.
According to colonial history, Mounti Patti used to be Lord Lugard’s resting place after a hard day’s job governing the country.
Lord Lugard served as the first Governor-General of Nigeria from January 1, 1914, to August 1919, after amalgamating the Northern and Southern protectorates into one administrative entity and died on April 11, 1945,aged 87, according to Google.
