The Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has officially assumed the regulatory oversight of the electricity market in Kogi State, marking a significant milestone for the state’s energy sector.

Head of Public Relations, KERC and made a copy available to The Reporters in Lokoja.
He said that the handover ceremony took place in Abuja on Wednesday, where Engr. Ibrahim S. Abdwaaris, Chairman/CEO of KERC, formally took over from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Atabo added that Engr. Sanusi Garba, Chairman of NERC, was present at the event and pledged continued collaboration and support for KERC, assuring that NERC would provide necessary documents and data to ensure a smooth transition, emphasizing the importance of facing the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“We will continue to extend our hands of friendship, as we seek a seamless transition and aim to work together for the good of the industry,” said Engr. Garba.
Engr. Abdwaaris, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in KERC, emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong partnership with NERC as the commission begins its regulatory duties in the state.
“We are well-trained and ready to hit the ground running, and we appreciate NERC for this opportunity,” he stated.
The event was also attended by KERC’s key officials, including the Commission’s Secretary, Alhaji Kasim Mabo; Commissioner for Legal, Licensing & Compliance, Professor Abdulkareem Ibrahim; Commissioner for Engineering, Performance & Monitoring, Engr. Michael Meliga; and Head of Public Relations, Alhaji Ali Atabor.
