Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has launched the Performance Indicator Tracker (KPIT), a new tool aimed at empowering citizens to monitor government policies and programmes.
Unveiled at the Government House in Lokoja by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, the KPIT was developed by the State Ministry of Finance.
Governor Ododo, in his address through his deputy, explained that the tracker is designed to provide data to guide informed decision-making, ensuring the timely and quality delivery of projects and services within budget.
He emphasized that the platform would enhance transparency, enabling citizens to access crucial performance data and hold the government accountable.
The Governor called on all Kogi citizens to engage with the tracker, urging them to demand accountability.
He appealed to Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), development partners, and civil society groups to collaborate in ensuring the tool’s success.
Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Mukadam Asiwaju Ashiru Idris, stated that the initiative responds to calls for greater transparency and accountability in government budgeting.
He added that KPIT would allow the government to track progress and make data-driven decisions for transformative outcomes.
Our correspondent gathered that the KPIT provides Kogi citizens with a direct way to participate in governance, promoting transparency and offering a means for active involvement in the state’s policy-making process.
