Members of the Ebira Avaibe Association from Gadumo Quarters in Lokoja, Kogi State, gathered on Sunday to offer special prayers marking the first anniversary of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s tenure. The prayers were aimed at invoking peace and continued prosperity for Kogi State.
Governor Ododo, who succeeded Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, officially took office on January 27, 2024. His administration has focused on inclusive governance and improving the lives of the people of Kogi among other achievements within one year.
The Chairman of the association, Hon. Musa Akaba, emphasized that the prayer session was an expression of gratitude to God for guiding Governor Ododo and his cabinet. Akaba, a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, also acknowledged the governor’s leadership and the positive impact it has had on Kogi residents, regardless of political affiliations.
“We organized this prayer to not only show our support for the governor but to thank God for the wisdom and good health He has granted him,” said Akaba. “Governor Ododo’s leadership has earned admiration across political divides.”
During the event, different prayers were offered. Pastor Usman John, Mrs. Blessing Dauda, and Mrs. Rebecca Jegede led Christian prayers, while Mal. Jimoh Abere led a group of Muslims in reciting the Holy Quran and offering Islamic prayers. The prayers focused on the governor’s health, wisdom, peace in the state, and continued good governance.
The prayers also called for the welfare of Kogi’s former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, as well as the state’s security, economic development, and the wellbeing of civil servants, pensioners, and the unemployed.
One of the elders of the association, Mal. Abdulsalam Oseni, who broke kola at the occasion, praised God for the positive impact Governor Ododo is making in the state.
