The community of Odo-Ape in Kogi West Senatorial district of the State has been plunged into mourning following the brutal killing of two innocent farmers by unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers.

All efforts, by our correspondent, to get the reaction of the Police Command in the state on the incident proved abortive.

Our correspondent put telephone calls to the Command’s spokesman, SP William Ovie Aya, they rang but not responded to.

Meanwhile, Sen. Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the community.

Speaking in response to the recent gruesome attacks on Odo Ape by unidentified gunmen, Sen. Karimi condemned the killings in the strongest terms, stating, “The killings of my people must stop.”

The Senator disclosed that the attackers, suspected to be criminals are reportedly taking refuge in forests within Kogi West.

He pledged to take all necessary measures, physical and spiritual,to rid the forests of these criminal elements.

“I will do everything security-wise, even if it means invoking the spirits of our forefathers, to ensure these attacks become a thing of the past,” Sen. Karimi asserted.

He assured that he is actively collaborating with relevant security agencies and working with both state and federal governments to prevent further attacks.

While appealing to the youths of Odo Ape to remain calm and not resort to taking the law into their hands, the Senator emphasized that concerted efforts at all levels of government are underway to address the security challenges decisively.

Sen. Karimi expressed optimism that these measures would ensure such incidents never recur in any community within Kogi West Senatorial District.
