The Kogi State House of Assembly has approved the 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling N582.4 billion.
The budget’s passage followed the adoption of a report by the House Standing Committee on Appropriation, Budget Monitoring, and Economic Planning.
During the clause-by-clause consideration in the committee of supply, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, disclosed that the budget allocates N281.15 billion for recurrent expenditures and N301.28 billion for capital projects.
The fiscal plan, which outlines funding for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, will take effect from January 1, 2025, and conclude on December 31, 2025.
The Speaker commended the legislators for prioritizing their constitutional duties, despite being bereaved.
Our correspondent recalls that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo presented the budget on December 3, 2024, for legislative deliberation and approval.
