In a heartwarming celebration of the yuletide season, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, and her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, have brought smiles and opportunities to hundreds of constituents through a robust empowerment program.

The initiative, executed in four impactful phases, featured a raffle draw for market women and farmers across the district’s five local government areas. Winners from Okene went home with a tricycle and a sewing machine, while participants from Adavi clinched a tricycle and a deep freezer. Similarly, prizes such as grinding machines, deep freezers, and sewing machines were distributed to beneficiaries in Ajaokuta, Ogori-Magongo, and Okehi local governments.

Adding a festive twist, a spinning game was organized for elderly women, with prizes including colorful wrappers, bowls, and essential groceries.

In total, 250 women, primarily business owners, received tools like deep freezers, grinding machines, and sewing machines to enhance their trade and boost their financial independence.

The event, fully funded by High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, also included tricycle awards for members of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s team in recognition of their dedication.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said the event focusrd on empowering women, particularly mothers, to elevate their entrepreneurial ventures and secure financial autonomy.

Our correspondent reports that this initiative comes on the heels of her earlier efforts, which saw the lawmaker empower 1,300 constituents and unveil landmark projects within her first year in office.

The event drew prominent figures, including former House of Representatives member Abdulrahman Badamasiu, Kogi State PDP Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, community leaders, and party stakeholders, who joined in celebrating this transformative gesture.
