The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has vowed to rebuild public trust in the Corps, acknowledging a growing reluctance among motorists to cooperate with FRSC personnel due to concerns over integrity.
Mohammed made this commitment during a visit to the FRSC Sector Command in Akure, Ondo State, on Monday. He underscored the need to uphold the founding principles of the Corps, which include selfless service, integrity, loyalty, and efficient service delivery.
He reiterated the FRSC’s mandate to ensure road safety, reduce accidents, and create a secure motoring environment, while lamenting the erosion of public trust.
“Public servants in uniform are expected to make sacrifices for the nation,” he said. “I urge you to not only look good in your uniforms in the office but to also represent the same values on the road.”
Mohammed assured personnel that their welfare would remain a priority, promising improved logistics, favorable working conditions, and opportunities for career growth. He also commended the Special Marshals for their integrity and selfless service, recognizing their critical role in promoting safety on Nigerian roads.
The FRSC boss highlighted plans to promote deserving officers, provide opportunities for further education, and reward excellence among personnel.
Speaking during the visit, the Zonal Commanding Officer for Oyo, Osun, and Ondo States, Mr. Adeleye Adegboyega, thanked the Corps Marshal for his support and commitment to enhancing road safety. He reaffirmed the dedication of FRSC officers to reducing road traffic crashes to the barest minimum.
Similarly, the Sector Commander of the Akure Command, Mr. Samuel Ibitoye, pledged that the Corps would continue to uphold its legacy and fulfill its mandate of ensuring safer highways.
Our correspondent gathered that Mohammed’s visit to Ondo State is part of his nationwide effort to boost the morale of FRSC personnel and restore public confidence in the Corps.
During his engagements, he has consistently emphasized integrity, selfless service, and loyalty as core values for effective service delivery.
