Tragedy struck on Felele community in Lokoja , kogi State on Friday morning as two promising young lives were tragically cut short in a horrific motor accident at about 10 a.m. along the Felele axis of Lokoja highway.
The accident claimed the lives of Covenant Omolola Isaac, a Geology student from the Federal University Lokoja, and Abu Taiwo Abimbola, a Science Laboratory Technology student of Kogi State Polytechnic, also in Lokoja.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that an articulated vehicle, heavily loaded and heading towards Abuja, lost control and rammed into a Keke NAPEP carrying passengers.
They described the impact of the incident devastating, leaving both female students dead and others seriously injured.
Our reports that personal identification recovered at the scene confirmed the victims’ identities, with their remains later deposited at the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers.
The Kogi Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, confirmed the incident, stating that eight people were involved in the accident.
He reported that two individuals lost their lives, four sustained injuries, and two escaped unhurt. The accident involved two trucks and two tricycles.
Oyedeji urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before setting out on any journey.
