The Ogun Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has welcomed its newly deployed Area Comptroller, Ahmadu Shuaibu, who officially resumed duties at the Command Headquarters in Idiroko, Ogun State.

The outgoing Comptroller, James Ojo, announced this during a formal handing-over ceremony on Tuesday. Ojo, who is retiring, expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the command for their support throughout his tenure.

“Under my leadership, the command effectively executed its core mandates of revenue generation, border security, and trade facilitation. We also strengthened partnerships with sister agencies and stakeholders,” Ojo stated.

He noted the command’s achievements, adding that they include; intercepting illicit goods, combating smuggling, and promoting legitimate trade, which have positioned Ogun Area 1 as a vital contributor to Nigeria’s economic and security frameworks.

Ojo thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his trust and support, and urged officers to extend the same level of cooperation to his successor.

In his remarks, the new Comptroller, Ahmadu Shuaibu, commended his predecessor for his leadership and accomplishments and pledged to build on Ojo’s legacy by fostering teamwork, innovation, and discipline in the command’s operations.

“I urge all officers and stakeholders to collaborate with me as we face the challenges ahead. With unity, dedication, and God’s grace, we will overcome them,” Shuaibu said.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening partnerships with sister agencies to enhance border security and facilitate legitimate trade.

Our correspondent reports that the ceremony marked a smooth transition in leadership, signaling continued efforts to advance the objectives of the NCS in Ogun Area 1.
