Police Crackdown On Suspects Criminals in Niger.

The Police Command in Niger State arrested two suspect:Baraka Suleiman, 27, and Nasiru Maikaji, 22 at Dutsen-Kura Gwari, seized seventy wraps of suspected cannabis and additional quantities hidden in a polythene bag.

According to a statement signed by SP Wasiu A. Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO,in Minna on Friday, the suspects were apprehended with cash amounting to N136,300, believed to be proceeds from the sale of the illicit substance.

During interrogation, both men admitted to frequenting the house where the drugs were found but claimed the actual dealers fled the scene before the raid.

In a related operation, a joint task force of police and vigilantes targeted black spots behind Flamingo Junction and the Sabo-Angwan area of Maitumbi.

They arrested several suspects, including Abdulraheem Yunusa and Aminu Abdullahi of F/Layout, along with Shafiiu Auwal, Maniru Umar, Abubakar Halidu, Anas Sani, and Auwal Halidu from Angwan-Daji.

According to the police, three of the suspects were caught near Flamingo Junction armed with sharp knives, allegedly preparing to rob unsuspecting victims.

Police recovered three stolen handsets, while the remaining four were apprehended in Sabo-Angwan as they prepared to attack a target.

Items seized during the raid include knives, a cutlass, scissors, pliers, an axe, charms, and multiple handsets.

The suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.

The Police described the arrests as a sweeping operation aimed to ensure peace during the Ember months and festive season.
