By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.

An unusual sight has been causing quite the stir at the bustling post office in Lokoja, Kogi State.

A battered, weather-beaten umbrella, standing defiantly yet pitifully, has become the talk of the area and its environs.

The umbrella, long overdue for repair or replacement, has drawn the attention—and scorn—of passersby and business patrons alike.

On Thursday, our correspondent spoke to several curious individuals who couldn’t help but comment on the umbrella’s sorry state.

“It’s as if the umbrella is crying out for help,” one passerby quipped. “It’s been like this for days, and yet neither the owner nor any kind-hearted Nigerian has come to its rescue.”

Its owner said that much as he was not unmindful of the need to repair the unmbralla, his abysmally lean financial resources has put asunder to the aim aim for now.

“What matters to me now is how to fulfill my stomach infrastructure,” he said.

For now, the forlorn umbrella stands as a symbol of neglect, sparking laughter, sympathy, and plenty of side-eye from those who cross its path.

Will a Good Samaritan answer its silent plea? Only time will tell.
