The Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA) has praised President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of Youth Development, describing it as a strategic move to strengthen the fight against drug abuse among Nigerian youth.

In a congratulatory message from Abuja on Friday, VGADA’s Executive Director, Dr. Hope Omeiza, highlighted Olawande’s expertise and passion for youth empowerment as qualities that make him well-suited for the role. This announcement came during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, marking a major milestone in Olawande’s career.

Omeiza emphasized that Olawande’s appointment aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes sectors like national security, the economy, agriculture, power, oil and gas, transportation, education, and youth empowerment.

“We warmly congratulate Olawande on his well-deserved appointment,” Omeiza said, noting that Olawande had made significant strides as Minister of State for Youth Development by advocating for stronger anti-drug initiatives and equipping youth with skills to resist negative influences.

“Our endorsement of Olawande’s appointment underscores our confidence in his ability to drive meaningful change. With him at the helm, Nigerian youth can expect innovative programs that prioritize their well-being and development.”

Dr. Omeiza expressed optimism that Olawande’s contributions would have a lasting impact on Nigeria’s youth. “As we celebrate this achievement, VGADA remains committed to supporting Olawande in crafting policies and initiatives that foster a brighter future for Nigerian youth,” he concluded.
