The Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Saidu Yusuf, has called on customs officers to maintain integrity and dedication in their duties. Yusuf, who also serves as the Zonal Coordinator of Zone A in Lagos, gave this advice during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun State.
He emphasized the importance of hard work, noting that “no leader seeking results would assign tasks to a lazy officer.” Yusuf highlighted the NCS’s ongoing efforts to implement international best practices through major projects aimed at boosting the efficiency and morale of personnel.
Among these initiatives are the construction of a state-of-the-art customs village, a salary and insurance review, and the establishment of housing schemes nationwide. These programs, initiated over the past year under the leadership of Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, are designed to improve the welfare and future of NCS officers.
Yusuf urged officers to embrace these projects, work diligently, and uphold high standards as they are transferred between commands. He also acknowledged the challenges faced by customs officials, especially in border areas, and encouraged them to intensify their efforts in overcoming these obstacles.
