Prof. Adekunle Okesina, former Chairman of the National Committee of Provosts of College of Health Sciences, has called on Nigerian medical practitioners to adopt emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and local innovations, to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
Speaking at his 70th birthday celebration in Ilorin, Okesina emphasized the need for knowledge-sharing and cross-disciplinary collaboration to overcome healthcare challenges in Nigeria.
He stressed that adopting AI and other advanced technologies would help address limitations in the country’s medical system.
The event also featured a lecture by Prof. Simeon Adebisi, former Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Benue State University, on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in patient management.
Adebisi stressed that collaborative efforts across specialties now play a crucial role in achieving better outcomes for patients.
Contributing,Prof. John Obafunwa, Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, praised Okesina’s contributions to the field of sciences and wished him a rewarding retirement.
