Governor Ododo Approves NGN72,500 Minimum Wage for Kogi Workers

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved NGN72,500 as the new minimum wage for Kogi state workers, with the adjustments taking effect immediately.

Governor Ododo made this announcement on Monday during the wage agreement signing ceremony at the Government House in Lokoja,stating that all taxes on salaries would be suspended for next one year.

He assured the labor leaders that as allocations from the Federation Account are received, the Auditor General will authorize the immediate implementation of the new wage.

Governor Ododo commended the labor unions for maintaining peace and supporting the progress of Kogi state.

He noted that previous civil servant screening exercises were essential in achieving this milestone.

The governor acknowledged the economic challenges facing Kogi residents and promised that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s initiatives would help alleviate the situation.

Governor Ododo encouraged the labor unions to continue their dedication to advancing Kogi state, stating that their efforts would directly contribute to the state’s prosperity.

Mr. Onu Eduka, the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, expressed delight over the rapid implementation of the minimum wage in the state, noting that over eight labor leaders within the administration were committed to its success.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Kogi State, Comrade Gabriel Amari, praised the minimum wage team for their dedication to achieving this goal and requested that the governor consider civil servant upgrades when state finances improve.
