The Nigeria Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector (NUPCPS) has called for consequential adjustment in pension, arising from the implementation of the national minimum wage (Amendment) Act, 2024.
The National Chairman of NUPCPS, Mr Sylva Nwaiwu, made the call during a peaceful rally to submit a request letter, through the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy to the president, in Abuja on Monday.
“We regret to call on your quick attention to the omission of pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as beneficiaries of the approved pension increment of N32,000 per month on the pension retirees, by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission circular.
“We have attached all necessary documents to back our claims,” Nwaiwu said.
He said that CPS had the largest population in the country, yet they were omitted, even after helping to build the government.
The letter was received by the Director, General Services, in the Ministry, Mr Chris Mgbodilo.
