A Cleric,Pst. Pastor Michael O. Gbadero, PhD,has urged politicians and political appointees in Nigeria to act as true representatives of their faith and constituencies.
He gave the advice on Saturday during a special church service organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Minna,Niger State to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

Gbadero noted that the stagnation in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape, attributing it to leaders who he said,had failed to meet the expectations of the populace.
Addressing a congregation at First Baptist Church, Minna, he emphasized the need for leaders at all levels—from the presidency to local government—to govern with the fear of God.
Drawing on biblical examples of righteous leaders, he reminded those in power that their positions were divinely appointed, warning that it must not be exploited for personal gain.
He stated that the suffering of Nigerians stemmed not from lack of resources, but from corruption and mismanagement of the nation’s resources among leaders.
Pastor Gbadero called for selfless leadership akin to biblical figures like Hezekiah and Esther, arguing that such leaders are essential for Nigeria to realize its potential as a global power.
In a complementary message, Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the state CAN chairman and Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, encouraged Christians to focus on God’s mercies and maintain hope amid the country’s challenges, affirming that faith would lead Nigeria to overcome its difficulties.
