Boat Capsize again on Niger River again, 60 lives perished .

In a heartbreaking incident, the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) says a boat carrying approximately 300 passengers has capsized on the River Niger near Gabjibo, north central Nigeria.

According to the organization, the accident claimed the lives of over 60 individuals.

Our correspondent reports that the boat was en route from Mundi to Gbajibo for the Annual Maulud celebration when disaster struck on October 1, around 8:30 P.M.

NSEMA’s Director-General Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Arah, confirmed that while more than 150 people have been rescued and commended the courageous efforts of community volunteers, the search for victims continues amidst growing concerns over the cause of the tragedy.

The Press Secretary, Mokwa Local Government Area of the state,Abubakar Dakani, disclosed that approximately 60 bodies have been recovered, with only 10 survivors found so far.

He added that rescue operations, conducted in collaboration with local divers and emergency committees, are ongoing while the community mourns the devastating loss of the loved ones.

As the grim reality unfolds, authorities pledge to provide timely updates while families wait anxiously for news of their loved ones.
The Reporters recalls that similar tragic happened in the state early this leading to loss of lives.
