The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) has unequivocally condemned the recent murder of Damilola Olowoyo, a 19-year-old first-year student at the Federal University Lokoja.

Dr. Jeremiah Elukpo, the NAKOSS National President, strongly denounced the brutal killing, describing it as a grave example of man’s inhumanity to man.

In a statement he made available to journalists in Lokoja on Saturday,Elukpo expressed deep concern over the alarming trend of youths pursuing quick wealth through criminal means.

He pledged to combat ritual killings and other criminal activities, denouncing the misguided belief that such acts are a path to wealth.

The NAKOSS boss emphasized the need for parents to not only send their children to school but also actively monitor their activities and instill strong moral values.

The prime suspect, Jeremiah Paul, a 20-year-old from Chikun Local Government in Kaduna State, confessed to luring Olowoyo to a secluded area and murdered her for money ritual.

NAKOSS expressed profound sorrow over the student’s death and urged parents to remain vigilant about their children’s behavior.

The association called on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

It also commended the Nigerian police for their swift action in arresting the suspects.

Elukpo advised youths to reject shortcuts to wealth and instead, focus on hard work, ethical conduct, and spiritual growth to become responsible leaders.
