—Deepening good governance to maximise full benefits of the tenets of democracy.
The way forward.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

By Otori Ozigi Samuel Ochetengwu.

It is no longer news that the performing governor of Kogi State,Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman was victorious at the Supreme court in a suit filed by the SDP candidate , Alhaji Muri Ajaka.

The victory has effectively confirmed the veracity of the overwhelming votes that gave the governor a landslide victory in the November gubernatorial election conducted last year.

Now that there is no more any legal encumbrances or any distraction , the environment is fertile for governor to continue to broaden good governance in the state.

Recall that the performance driven governor had initiated several policies and developmental programmes since he came onboard as the 5th executive governor of the state.

True , the consolidation mantra of his government is visibly on ground in several thematic areas of the economy of the state namely Infrastructures, Agriculture, Education, Health care delivery, Security and the welfare of the workers which is a top priority of this government of the pragmatic and visionary leader.

In view of the above assertion, another milestone is the payment of l00 percent salary to local government workers in the month of August,2024.

This effectively ended the over 15 years regime of ridiculous and miserable percentage of salaries of this category of workers in the state, including pensioners and primary school teachers.

Now that the governor is sitting firmly on his seat in Lugard house,he should continue in the trajectory of good governance and purposefully leadership that he is known for.

Let there be more dividends of democracy for the good people of the state.
On the whole , let there be accountability and transparency in the business of good governance in the years ahead.

Governor Ododo has demonstrated capacity , competence and high level of integrity so far.

Let’s support him with our fervent prayers and meaningful contribution in what ever capacity or position we may find ourselves, either in his administration or outside his government.

He is on course.

I wish him continued wisdom, good health and God’s guidance and protection.
