By Daniel Peters.

Twenty medical students who were kidnapped in Benue State have been rescued.

Security sources confirmed the students’ release on Friday.

The operation was overseen by the Office of the National Security Adviser and involved various security agencies, including the police, DSS, and military personnel, with support from the Benue State government.

Our correspondent recalls that the students were abducted last Thursday on the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway while en route to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ annual convention.

Following the abduction, the Inspector General of Police’s team arrived in Benue State on Monday and was swiftly deployed to Otukpo to search for the students.

Further details will be provided as they become available.
