The Chairman of the Governing Council at Federal Polytechnic, Wannune in Benue State, Chief Michael Msuaan, has expressed the council’s commitment to supporting staff research in order to foster the institution’s growth.
Msuaan also stressed the need for collaboration with relevant government agencies to secure necessary infrastructure in the institution.
Speaking during the council’s inaugural meeting at the polytechnic, he disclosed plans to broaden the range of courses offered, enhance academic and professional opportunities for students.
He emphasised the importance of updating the curriculum, investing in modern teaching tools, and equipping staff to deliver quality education in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Msuaan further outlined a focus on infrastructure development, including modern classrooms and well-equipped laboratories, with plans to collaborate with TETFUND and other partners, adding that, the council aims to introduce new courses in fields like engineering, architecture, and computer sciences, seeking accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The chairman emphasised building partnerships with industries for practical training and community engagement to enhance the polytechnic’s reputation and provide students with real-world experience just as he also called for responsible unionism and strong governance within the institution.
On his part, the institution’s Rector, Dr. Tyover Ashinya, noted the polytechnic’s need for additional hostels, while thanking Senator George Akume for his ongoing support.
