The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of Police Inspector Aminu Muhammed for his alleged involvement in a robbery near his duty station at the ‘C’ Division in Lokoja, the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for the command, SP.William Aya, confirmed that Inspector Muhammed was apprehended, adding the suspect is currently in custody.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state,CP.Bertrand Onuoha, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident before deciding on further action.

Our correspondent gathered that the arrest of the suspect follows a robbery on June 14, 2024, where a car was stolen from a residence close to Muhammed’s duty post.

Sources said that the stolen vehicle was discovered in the workshop of a panel beater named Arome Moses in Ochadamu village.

They added that Moses was found altering the car’s appearance, a development that prompted suspicion from those familiar with the robbery.

The online publication further gathered that upon investigation by the Quick Response Unit (QRU) from the Police Area Command in Idah, Moses revealed details that led to Muhammed’s arrest.

At this juncture,it was uncovered that the car’s license plate had been changed to an Abuja number, and Muhammed had presented a backdated receipt from a car dealer to falsely claim ownership.
