Byuan to politicians:Stop Using Church Gatherings for Negative Campaign.

Dr. Mathias Byuan, the Executive Director of Housing, Finance, and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has urged politicians in Benue State to stop using churches and political platforms for malicious campaigns.

Byuan emphasised the need for Christians to avoid political violence in churches, advocating instead for embodying the spirit of Christ and maintaining faith in God.

He highlighted the state’s blessings, noting the recent appointments of Benue indigenes facilitated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

Speaking as the Chief Launcher at a special thanksgiving service and fundraising event for the roofing of NKST Consistory in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area, Byuan ,urged the church and party members to reject hate speech and political violence.

He expressed concern over politicians using church gatherings to campaign negatively against one another, even after the campaign season has ended.

Byuan also called on church leaders to condemn the disruption of worship by government officials, which he noted had become a trend in Benue State.

He promised continued support for the church and the APC, urging prayers for the success of the SGF and President Tinubu’s administration.

Rev. J.T. Aernyi, in his sermon titled, “Leaving a Mark,” encouraged Christians to leave a positive legacy in all aspects of life, drawing parallel to Senator Akume’s impactful contributions to Benue State.

The thanksgiving service was attended by top government officials which included; Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Terlumun Utsev; Senators Titus Zand am, Emmanuel Udende; Executive Secretary/CEO Nigerian Shippers Council, Barrister Pius Akuta; Hon. Mrs. Becky Orpin, Chief Mike Aondoakaa, Ambassador Terhemen Tarzôr, Professor Terhemba Shija and many others.
