By correspondent in Lokoja.

The price of this chicken went for as high as N5,000 on Thursday in Lokoja international market instead of about N2,000 few months ago.

Kogi state, particularly Lokoja, the capital is known to be among the costliest states to live in Nigeria as far as inflation is concerned.

Same goes for food stuffs such as garri, rice, beans, meat, pepper, tomato, onion, salt, red oil, among others the price of which has gone beyond the purchasing capacity of the common man in the state.

The residents not only groan under the yoke of hyper inflation, they stressed the need for the state government to establish  marketing  and price control board that would control the prices of consumable items and check the attitude of shylock market women and men in the state, especially Lokoja, the capital.
