By Dawud Ahmed in Lokoja.

Residents of Lokoja, Kogi State, north Nigeria have again been plunged into power outage amids terrible heat and the dire need for timely restoration of electricity to activate cooling systems to ease effects of the biting heat.

Our correspondent reports that for the past 48 hours and as at the time of this reports by 3 p.m on Wednesday, the greater part of the state capital has been without light and no explanation from the regional office of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC for the frightening development.
Some members of the public who spoke with our correspondent in Lokoja ,described the situation as highly unbearable.
” I can’t imagine a situation whereby there is no light for the past 48 hours, how can one copy with this terrible heat in Lokoja when we cannot use fan or air conditioners to cool off the hot weather.
“The Greater water works is down while the old Lokoja work, which used to provide relief for the public in terms of skeletal supply of potable water, has been vandalized.
“These two odds have thrown us into serious dilemma of living in Lokoja.
“My passionate appeal is for the state government to expedite action in repairing the Greater Lokoja Water Works as well as put back the Old Lokoja Water Works to work for us to get water to bath and drink and check the terribly hot atmosphere in this part of the country,” Mr. Anthony Chuku pleaded.
The Reporters, however, reports that those enjoying light as at the time of this report are the ones who got electricity from Ajaokuta but are the minority population in the area.
