The rerun election conducted by INEC in Keana Constituency of Nasarawa state on Saturday witnessed large turn of eligible voters to exercise their franchise.
The exercise was sequel to the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja which in Nov. 2023, ordered a rerun election in Keana Constituency.
The election was conducted in five of the poling units in Agaza ward of Keana Local Government Area, namely; Kofar Sarki 001, Kofar Inuwa 002, Central Primary School A 003, Central Primary School B 004, as well as Kofar Gazagu 005, with a total of 2,310 PVCs collected.
NAN correspondent, who went round the affected areas, said voters were seen in cue as early as 7:00a.m.
Election materials and officials were on hand under the watchful eyes of the police and other security personnel.
Some voters who spoke to newsmen after exercising their civic responsibility, expressed satisfaction with the process of the election and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for providing a level play ground for all political parties.
Security personnel comprising the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, DSS, and the Army were seen stationed at all the polling units to ensure a hitch free election.
Mr. Shehu El-Wahab, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state and the Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada had earlier assured the electorate of transparent and peaceful election.
The duo expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the electorate and electoral officers conductef themselves during the election.
It was also observed that the process so far was peaceful in all the polling units.
