A house wife, Sa’adatu Ayuba, who has 27 years experience with her husband, Jalija, with three children to show for their marriage, has prayed a Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court to dissolve their marriage.
She anchored her prayer on what she described as impotent and attitude by her husband.
The petitioner recalled that she married her husband according to Islamic law in 1997, adding that the marriage is blessed with five children ages 25, 22, 14, 9 and 7.
“I got married when I was 16 years old. I have never been with any other man before my marriage.
“Since two years, I have been having misunderstandings with him. This is because he got a girlfriend outside our marriage.
”He has not been functioning as a man. I am tired of the situation (impotence) and attitude, and want a divorce in the interest of justice.”
Responding Jalija denied the allegations and described them as false, saying that he had no girlfriend.
“I married another wife and I am performing perfectly as a man. “The lady I married has one child for me, we got married in her village,” he also told the court.
The respondent said that he had been playing role as husband to the petitioner and as a real man.
At this juncture, the petitioner faulted her husband’s claim, saying that the woman in question was his girlfriend, adding that she was not in the knowledge that her husband got married to another woman.
The judge,Malam Saminu Suleiman, gave the couple one week to settle the matter, amicably, and adjourned the matter until January 17,2024, for feedback.
