Many bank customers in Lokoja Kogi State, North Central Nigeria, who visited their banks in Lokoja to withdraw money from ATM on Wednesday,returned home disappointed.
Our correspondent who also visited some banks in the area gathered that the development was caused by poor network which incapacitated ATM from dispensing money to customers.
At one of the first generation of banks in Nigeria,located at the vicinity of Ganaja junction,Lokoja, many customers, who told our correspondent that they spent several hours waiting for net to return for enable them withdraw money had their hope dashed.
Only few of them were however,seen hanging around the ATM hoping that network will return for them make money withdrawal.
Our investigation showed that in an attempt to bail out stranded customers at the ATM, the management of the bank decided to attend to them inside the bank by giving them opportunity to fill form and withdraw money but with no success as poor network remains a stumbling block.
As at this junction,some bank cashiers were seen explaining the cause of the problem with apology to customers to exercise patient,assuring them that network would soon return.
As at the time of this report, the status quo remained with some customers stay clue to ATM and others at the counter, waiting for when the network will come back.
Fillers from some business centres in Lokoja also revealed similar challenge with the operators complaining of delay in their business.
They called on the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC,to find lasting solution to the problem.
