Two passengers of a vehicle fatal crash that happened on Tuesday on Lagos-Ibadan express way, South West Nigeria lost their lives while 8 others sustained various degrees of injury.
The Chief Route Commander, Florence Okpe,FRSC Public Education Officer for Sector Commander,FRSC Ogun State Sector Command, Sector Commander, CC ANTHONY UGA, disclosed this Abeokuta in a statement she made available to The Reporters on Tuesday.
According to Uga,FRSC operatives,Mowe unit Command, in conjunction with Trace carried out rescue operation on Lagos-Ibadan expressway around Christopher University.
He said the crash, which occurred at about 1130hrs of Tuesday morning, involved a vehicle with registration number GAS937XA TOYOTA HIACE
Uga further disclosed that 10 persons were involved comprising 7 male adults and 3 female adults,adding that 08 persons,made up of 6 male adults and 2 female adults sustained injury, while 2 persons died.
“The incidence was a lone crash and the suspected cause of the fatal crash was wrongful over taking on the part of the Toyota driver and then rammed into a station vehicle, coupled with excessive speed.
“The injured victims were taken to Famobis hospital while the two corpses were deposited at Idera mortuary,” he said.
The Sector Commander cautioned motorists on excessive speed and poor judgement on overtaking.
He advised motorists to always have in mind whenever they want to overtake, that ” Is it safe is it right and if convince, one can go ahead to over take”.
Uga commiserated with the families of the victims.
