The Kogi State Director General, Special Task Force on illegal smuggling of fire arms and other related offences, Elder Friday Sani Makama, has advised indigenes of the state to look beyond sentiment and evaluate the present administration led by Governor Yahsya Bello with positive mind.
Elder Makama gave the advice on Saturday when Governor Yahaya Bello attended the burial ceremony of Late Chief Ali Okwoli, the father of former Kogi East Senator, Attai Aidoko Ali.
According to him,Governor Bello has in the last seven years succeeded in uniting, promoting and advancing the cause of Kogi agenda by putting the State first against any form of ethnic, political or religious colouration.
The APC chieftain, who commended the Governor for attending the occasion, said he was not surprised that thousands of people trooped out across the three Senatorial districts of the state to welcome Bello who they described as their illustrious son for his impacts to humanity.
Elder Makama described the Governor’s presence at the funeral ceremony as historic, despite his busy schedules to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
“The entire people of Kogi East and Kogi State in general will forever be grateful to our amiable Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Eleojo Bello for making us smile on daily basis. Indeed, the Governor has reflected the hope and aspiration of our youths in Nigeria.
” Before now, no body gave the youths chance to explore their potential in Governance. For the first time, a young, talented and result-oriented youth was given the mantle of leadership in Kogi State. As the youngest Governor in Nigeria, Governor Bello didn’t disappoint us but made all the youths proud.
“His works in Kogi State speak for himself. No wonder, since he came on board, Kogi State was no longer a breeding place for criminals, unlike what was seen in the past. Kogites sleep with their two eyes closed and our youths are not on the streets since they have been fully engaged with one form of empowerment and the other.
Speaking earlier,Governor Bello
emphasized the importance of emulating Ali Okwoli’s exemplary life, which he noted was marked by good traits and encouraged citizens to unite against divisive forces.
Describing the late Chief Ali Okwoli as a man who led a fulfilled life across all aspects of human existence, Bello urged people to adopt the commendable life qualities that set the deceased apart, making him deserving of celebration both in life and death.
The governor attested to the fact that Olamaboro and by extension, Igala land, holds a special place in his heart,adding that any he visits the area,he always feel like home.
He urged people of the state overcome differences that hindered the progress of the state and instead, embrace unity to lead the stat to greater achievements for its residents.
The governor stressed the need for the unity of Kogi state, stating that the people should sun tribal differences, adding that such development would divide them.
The governor, who highlighted the state’s abundant natural, mineral, and human resources,however, cautioned against people allowing trivial matters to create divisions that would prevent them from benefiting from such resources collectively.
Governor Bello,who stated that he stood against intruders seeking to exploit the state’s resources, selfishly,emphasized that a continuity government would ensure that Kogi remains united against such invaders to enable the people fully enjoy the blessings bestowed upon the state by God.
In his remarks, who Senator Aidoko,who commended Governor Bello for attending his father’s funeral,stressed that he has been hearing positive stories about the Governor.
He pledged his loyalty to the governor, adding that the people of Olamaboro Local Government would forever remain grateful for his good work in Kogi State.
