“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” and so Journalists in Kogi State, north central Nigeria, reflect on this wise saying on Monday morning in Lokoja by embarking on road walk as part of programmes marking their 2023 NUJ Press Week in the State.
The exercise, tagged: “2023 Press Week, Road Walk For Health And Wellness”, was led by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, Alhaji Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh and other executives and members of the Union.
Speaking at the end of the exercise, Alhaji Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh described physical fitness and mental alertness as key to the journalism profession, stressing that plans were underway to make the exercise a monthly routine, to keep members fit.
“If you are not physically fit, if you are not mentally alert, you can’t do this job successfully. That’s why we have set out this day to keep our members fit”.
Contributing, the Chairman of the Federated Chapel, Mike Abu, urged members of the Union to engage in sporting activities rather than focusing on restricting their activities to journalism alone.
Abu, who said sporting activity was important for journalists in the state, called on them to make out time for exercise, to keep fit.
