Mr.Paul Omotosho.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti state and the security agencies in the area have gone on a rescue mission to secure the release of the state chairman of the party, Mr.Paul Omotosho from kidnappers.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Segun Dipe, disclosed this to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, while confirming the incident.
He said,”Our chairman has been kidnapped, this evening, and we are already working with security agencies towards securing his release.”
Our correspondent gathered that Omotosho was kidnapped on Agbado-Imesi-Ekiti road in Gbonyin Local Government Area of the state, Saturday evening.
Sources told our correspondent that Omotosho, an indigene of Imesi-Ekiti, was on his way to his hometown when the kidnappers, armed wuth gunmen, ambushed his vehicle, shooting sporadically and subsequently led him to the bush.
An Ado-Ekiti-based journalist, who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity from Ado-Ekiti on sunday, in a telephone interview, described the kidnapping of Omotosho as “one too many in the state.”
“Apart from Omotosho, there are several innocent people languishing in kidnappers’ den in the state yet to secure their freedom.
“The state government and the security agencies should sit up and rescue the state and its people from the onslaught being unleashed on them now and then by kidnappers in the state.
“What is happening here does not speak well of the good image of Ekiti State, he lamented.
