Many eligible voters in Gadumo, Ajaokuta Local Governnent Area of kogi state, north central Nigeria, have expressed disgust over their inability collect their permanent voter card,PVC.
They expressed the feeling on Friday in separate interview with the correspondent of The Reporters at the Anebo quarters, venue of the collection centre and traced the development to human factor.
They, therefore, called on INEC to distribute PVC at the wards and polling units,instead of collection centres to ease the difficult being encountered in the process and give the exercise effective supervision.
Many of the voters expressed disappointment that whereas, they had been turning up for the past three days at Anebo quarters to collect their PVC, they could not get the card due because the cards were mixed up.
Our Correspondent,who monitored the exercise in the area on Friday reports that many voters who trooped to the centre, to collect their PVC, went home disappointed.
Mr Anthony Adejoh said:” I have been coming to this centre for the the past three days running with the hope of collection my PVC,but most unfortunate I have not got mine,so with other voters.
“In many cases, the names being called for the collection of PVC are not answering the collection and whereas those that turned up find it difficult to get their PVC because their PVC could not be found.
“We are suspecting funny development which may not be unconnected with the usual human factor in Nigerian society, in relation to political development such as the forthcoming general electíons, coupled with inadequate staff for the exercise.”
Hajia Maimuna Momoh,who toed the line of Adejoh added:”The best solution to put pay to the agonising experience of voters in the course of collecting PVC is for INEC to restrategise its method of distributing PVC.
“This it can be done by distributing the cards at the word and polling units to make the exercise seamless,” Hajia Maimuna Momoh, told The Reporters in interview.
“The Commission also need to increase the number of staff for the exercise.”
Hajia Momoh, who said she had been thrown into fix due to her inability to collect her PVC, also called on INEC to make the exercise seamless to enable eligible voters elect candidates of their choice in the planned general elections in less than two months to come.
She,,however, commended INEC for extending the time for the collection of PVC, hoping that such development would enable voters who are yet to collect their PVC to do so.
Our Correspondent reports that the exercise has been going on in the area peacefully under the watch of police personnel,except the issue of inability of many voters to get their PVC.
