A head of Christmas and New year celebrations, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State,CP Akeem A. Yusuf, has ordered all the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) throughout the State, their supervisory Area Commanders and Tactical Commanders to initiate and implement well-coordinated crime prevention strategies to beef up security towards the Christmas and New Year Celebrations in the state.

The Police boss gave in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP. Williams Ovie Aya in Lokoja on Thursday and made available copy to The Reporters.

CP. Yusuf also ordered the officers concerned to amongst other activities, massively deploy human, intelligence, and operational assets of the force at their disposal to major highways, places of worship, recreational centers, marketplaces, motor parks, and other places of public interest to ensure round-the-clock visibility and confidence-boosting patrols.

The Commissioner of Police, while enjoining the People of Kogi State to cooperate, unflinchingly with Police officers and other security agents, reiterated the ban on the use of fireworks and warns against the use of such items.

He emphasized the need for citizens to keep Police emergency phone lines handy and contact the nearest Police station in the event of any untoward situation that may pose threat to public peace, safety, and security.

The Police boss, on behalf of the entire officers of the Command, wished the people of the state Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
