Be wary of cloud during yuletide, Kwara RTEAN chairman cautions motorists

With yuletide activities around the corner, the Chairman, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria(RTEAN),Kwara Branch, Alhaji AbdulRahman Onikijipa, has advised RTEAN members and motorists to drive carefully and beware of cloudy weather during the busy festive season.

Onikijipa,who gave the advice in Ilorin on Saturday in an interview with Journalists, also called on other road users to be sensitive to cloudy weather to avoid unwanted crashes during festivity.

According to him, the weather is always cloudy and not as clear as expected during this season.

” There is need for motorists to be careful and be very sensitive to the weather. The weather is not clear enough during this season.

” Do not rush to get to your destination. You may not see your sorrounding clearly enough.

” We have sensitised our members to be cautious and avoid spending. It is better to arrive safely than to lose your life in desperation,” he said.

The chairman,who dvised members of the association not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction in the upcoming 2023 general elections called on them to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and exercise their voting rights.

” Go out and vote on election day.You are not expected to go out and act as a political thug for any politician,” he warned.

Onikijipa also called on Federal Government to urgently intervene in the lingering fuel scarcity and unstable fuel price in the country, adding that government should act fast to ease transportation problem, especially during festive season.

The chairman disclosed that sale of Alcohol at parks had been banned, adding that a task force had been in place to check indiscipline among members.

” There is discipline in our union. We have task force at every park to enforce discipline. No more sale of alcohol at the park or drivers taken any hard substance .

“My members are cooperating well and behaving decently .We sensitized them consistently and everything is working well in the system,” he noted.
