BEBM, KGIRS partner to sensitise populace on tax, rates—-Bayode

The Built Environment and Building Materials Exibition(BEBM) and Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) have gone into partnership with a view to educating and sensitizing the populace on tax and rates payment in the state.

Mr Oladipo Makakese Bayode, Chairman, BEBM, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, said the partnership became necessary in view of the hiccups in tax payment which he noted had affected, adversely, the revenue profile of the state.

Bayode also attributed the situation partly to lack of proper and efficient education and sensitization of tax payers on payment of taxes and rates ,a situation he noted had development of the state.

He expressed optimism that the partnership would guarantee generation of more revenue, for the state to meet its service delivery to the citizens.

He said that the sensitization and education programme would feature prominently in this year’s exhibition.

The BEBM boss added that the partnership would help guarantee proper organisation and coordination of building materials, manufacturers, sellers and builders in the state and enhance construction of quality buildings and edifices across the state.

Bayode said the 2022 exhibition,scheduled to hold at Idrinana Hotels and Suites, Lokoja on December,7,2022, is with the theme: “Taxes and Rates payment; A responsibility for development.”

According to him, the keynote speakers will include: Asiwaju Asiru Idris, the Commissioner for Finance,Budget, and Economic Planning; Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe, Acting Executive Chairman, KG-IRS and Prof. E. E. Lawal of the Faculty of Social Science, Federal University, Lokoja.

He promised that the event would be highly educating, adding that it would provide avenue for shared experiences by professionals.

He expressed delight that BEBM, an annual event debuted in 2016, had exposed manufacturers and builders to emerging ideas and trends resulting in improved service delivery.

The Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibition (BEBM) is a body of exhibition managers.

It is an association that organises and handles exhibitions in building materials.
