Six hoodlums who attacked Akpanya community in Igala Mela /Odolu Local Governnent Area of kogi state, from a neighbouring state, have been killed by the combined forces of the police and vigilante group.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, disclosed this in a telephone interview with The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The source stated that the hoodlums, numbering more than 30, came in buses and started shooting sporadically in the town ,a development that made residents scamper for safety .
The online publication gathered that no sooner the hoodlums entered the community on afternoon Sunday that the security agents, including the vigilantes advanced and confronted them in a gun duel.
According to Aya,two members of the loodlums succumbed to the supreme force of the police and vigilante as they were gunned down while four of their dead bodies were later recovered on Monday.
The locals aligned with the PPRO confirmation by saying that the hoodlums managed to carry away two dead bodies of their members while retreating in a hurry to their state,Enugu.
Aya said normalcy had returned to the community.
