The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP),Mr Peter Obi, has promised Nigerians that he would provide lasting solution to flood confronting Nigeria, if they elect him as their president in 2023 electíon.
He made the promise on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa state at the kick-off of the presidential campaign rally of the party.
Obi, who urged the mammoth crowd at the rally to observe one minute silence for those lost their lives in the course of the recent devastating flooding in many states of the federation, said the party had the capacity to bring about policies and programme safe the country from the yearly flooding.
According to him, LP is ready to change the polical narrative that had not gone down well with the masses for good, pointing out that farmers would begin to return to farms with Improved security, if the party is voted into office next year.
On agriculture, the LP presidential candidate maintained that if India,one of the countries with the largest population in the world could feed itself,Nigeria, the nation with the largest black population in the world could do some by achieving food sufficiency and export to other nations.
He said all that Nigeria required is dynamic and purposeful leadership, adding that the party would change the narrative that would meet the expectation of Nigerians, to put Nigeria on the right track to greatness.
Obi, who was at the rally with his vice presidential candidate,Dr Yusuf Datti Ahmed among others,therefore,called on Nigerians to cast their votes for the Labour Party to assist it tackle youth employment, restiveness, crime and criminality as well as power challenges facing the country.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the party,Bar.Julius Agure, described LP as the party that would deliver Nigeria from hunger, poverty and replace PDP and APC in 2023.
According to him,Nigeria is sick and needs leaders with sound health and mind to deliver it from its myriad social and economic problems with people’s mandate.
He, however, called on eleçtorate to ensure that they obtain their permanent voter’s card,PVC and be ready to use it in favour of LP that promised to institutionise people-oriented governnent.
