The police authorities have posted a new Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Adeshina Yusuf, to Kogi state to take over from CP Edward Egbuka.
According a statement the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya a copy of which was made available to The Reporters on Friday, the new CP has taken over the Command with an assurance to “strengthening Community Engagement, Effective synergy in ensuring adequate security in Kogi State.”
He succeeded CP Edward Egbuka, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and deployed to zone 14 Katsina.
CP Yusuf hails from Lagos State. He holds B.Sc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State in 1987.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in the year 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was trained at the Police Academy Annex Kaduna.
He has in the span of over three decades attended courses locally and overseas among others are;

iii. Intermediate Command course 55 ICC, Police Staff College, Jos

He has held several Command position and carried out multiple tasks in his illustrious career some of which are;
i. 1991 to 2013, he served as Divisional, operation, Traffic, Crime Officer including Divisional Police Officer in various locations in IMO, OGUN, LAGOS AND FCT ABUJA COMMANDS respectively.
ii. Between 2009 to 2010, he served as Deputy Chief of Police Operations UNAMID El Fasher sector Dafur, Sudan
iii. Between 2013 to 2017 Assistant Commissioner of Police Administration Railway Command Eb- Lagos, Assistant Commissioner of Police Criminal Investigation Department Kwara State Command, and Area Commander Biu Borno Command.
iv. Between 2017 to 2021, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Plateau Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department Kwara State Command, Director Field Studies, Police Staff College, Jos and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations Kogi Command
v. 2022 Commissioner of Police, Special Enquiry Bureau (SEB) Force CID Lagos.
Due to his outstanding qualities, dedication and commitment to service, he was awarded with the following honours;
i. Certificate of Recognition -UNAMID Dafur Sudan 2010
ii. UNAMID Medal Award – UNAMID Dafur, Sudan 2010
iii. Certificate of Operation – UNAMID Dafur, Sudan 2011.
The new CP is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM) as well as Fellow of the National Defence College of Nigeria (fdc).
The PPRO in another statement said the new CP had the requisite expertise, integrity, courage and experience to oversee the affairs the Kogi State Police Command and to consolidate on the numerous achievement of his predecessor.
He is happily married and blessed with Children.
